This course offers an exploration
of 17th and 18th century life in Massachusetts, drawing
on a wide range of approaches to develop participants'
content knowledge and expertise in using primary sources
and material culture from their own community to "localize"
the curriculum for their students.
Institutes are held onsite at historic properties included
in the National Register of Historic Places. The Institute
will include lectures by experts in Early American studies,
discussion with master teachers, lesson plan development
activities in grade level and interest subgroups, and
guided field trips to local sites that illustrate course
themes, including historic homes, meeting houses and
cemeteries. |
