Hello Parents/Guardians!

The staff and children of Blue Room are looking forward to an exciting school year.  Now that we are entering the month of October you may have noticed many changes since the summer.

We have said goodbye to a few teachers and some Blue Room friends.  But we are happy to extend a hello and welcome to our NEW friends Arianna, Adam, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Demira, Guyana, Emily, Sidi, Karl, Hailie, and Katherine.

Ms. Colleen, Ms. Michelle, and the children have also given a warm welcome to Ms. Audrey who joined the Blue Room staff in September after having worked with the Red Room for a year.  The Blue Room staff have worked together to create a friendly and comfortable environment for all of the children.

Attached to this newsletter you will find our daily schedule.  Please familiarize yourself with your child’s day.  This will not only help you understand what your child does during a day at school but it can also serve as a guide when asking your child about his/her day.

We ask that you please have your child in school no later than 9:30am.  The lunch count is taken at this time.  This cut-off time also ensures that the teachers are able to set-up activities accordingly.

*Children dropped off after 9am should be given breakfast before coming to school*

At drop-off time/pick-up time, it is important that you sign your child in/out.  This is a vital part of keeping track of the children in the classroom.  You can find the sign-in/sign-out clipboard on the table to your right when you enter the classroom.  Please ask a teacher for assistance if you need it.  It is your responsibility to ensure your child is safely in the classroom and signed in before you leave him/her for the day!

With all of these new changes comes the Fall and Winter seasons with COLD weather.  In addition to keeping a change of clothes (shirt, pants, underwear, and socks) in your child’s cubby, please be sure to leave a sweater or sweatshirt.  When any of these items are sent home soiled it is important that a clean change be sent to school with your child the next day!

Inside the classroom, we have a “naptime” area where your child’s mat and naptime cubby are located.  Please bring in a blanket and small pillow to be stored in this cubby.  Some children also find it soothing to have a favorite stuffed animal to sleep with.  Articles in the naptime cubby should be brought home on Fridays to be laundered and returned to the cubby the following Monday at drop-off.

For the next couple of months we will be working on a unit about HOME.  Students will explore this theme through the various centers.  We will be working on a big project which will involve creating individual posters of each child’s family.  Please have your child bring in 4-5 pictures of him/herself and family members within 2 weeks.

If you have any questions regarding this newsletter and schedule (or anything else), please feel free to ask the teachers.

We work hard to foster a positive relationship between parents/guardians and teachers.

Thank You for your support!
