Rowley, Coastal Plains. Here sediments brought down by the rivers (the Parker River in this case) are deposited ‘behind’ fringing sand bars offshore. The best example of this is Plum Island off in the distance. The salt hay that grows here supported a very active haying industry in the early days once ditching to drain off the high tide and for mosquito & green fly control were developed.
